In February, the Agrale 1800 RD truck owned by the food distributor Distribuidora de Alimentos do Uruguay clocked 1,266,000 kilometers on the odometer without the engine ever having been opened. Bought in Passegi at the then Agrale dealership in Uruguay in the late 1980s, the truck has over 20 years of use distributing food in the Montevideo metropolitan area.

The truck was one of the first vehicles sold by the Brazilian manufacturer in its neighboring country. The MWM D229/4 diesel engine is original and over these more than two decade has traveled the equivalent of almost 32 times around the world.

The longevity of the Agrale truck is explained by Romeu Bender, a technical assistant at Agrale, as the result of preventive technical maintenance carried out in accordance with the regular procedures and inspections recommended by the assembler. The recommended intervals for replacing fluids and filters were followed and the original factory settings were maintained.

“It’s very gratifying to find a truck in such a perfect state of use and conservation. Surpassing 1.2 million kilometers on an engine that has not been overhauled and in excellent overall condition demonstrates the excellent durability and safety of the vehicles made by Agrale. Regular maintenance and proper use of the vehicle played a fundamental role in reaching this mark,” explained Bender.
